On November 7, 2025, the academic symposium on “Europe and China-EU Relations amidst Global Transformation” and the first Three Seas Forum was successfully held at Fudan University. This conference was jointly organized by the Shanghai Institute for European Studies (SIES), the Center for European Studies at Fudan University, the Institute of International Studies at Shandong University, and the Institute of European Studies at Sun Yat-sen University (Zhuhai European Studies Center). It was co-organized by the Shanghai Society of Area and Country Studies, the Shanghai Association for Russian, East European & Central Asian Studies, and the EU Studies Branch of the Chinese Association for European Studies. The event was part of the 19th “Academic Month” (2025) of the Shanghai Federation of Social Science Associations. Opening addresses were delivered by Professor Ding Chun, President of SIES; Professor Zhang Yunling, Dean of the Institute of International Studies at Shandong University and Member of the Academic Division of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences; Professor Wu Yikang, Honorary President of SIES; and Associate Professor Gu Mingfei, Deputy Director of the European Studies Institute at Sun Yat-sen University. Over 40 participants attended, including experts and postgraduate students from institutions such as the Shanghai Federation of Social Sciences, Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Tongji University, East China Normal University, Shanghai International Studies University, Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences, Shanghai Institutes for International Studies, Shandong University, Sun Yat-sen University, Shenzhen University, Sichuan University, as well as representatives from Shanghai media outlets including China Social Sciences News and The Paper.
