On June 29, 2025, the Shanghai Institute for European Studies, together with 9 other academic societies affiliated to the Shanghai Federation of Social Sciences Association (SFSSA), including the Shanghai Society of International Relations, jointly hosted the academic symposium themed "World Peace and Development and the Future of a Multilateral International Order" in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War at the Shanghai Social Sciences Hall.
Professor Xu Mingqi, Honorary President of SIES, and Prof. Liu Hongsong, Council Member of SIES, delivered keynote speeches on the topic of "The 80th Anniversary of the Founding of the United Nations and the Future of a Multilateral International Order". This symposium is a key cooperative project of the SFSSA in 2025 and an event under the Presidents' Forum series.
